Kiyoshi Harai (Japanese: 祓清(はらい きよし) Harai Kiyoshi) is the protagonist of the manga series Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi. After training for a couple of years he came back to Naraku City to join Tenma Sakaki's Exorcist Branch. He wants to protect all humans from any kind of demon.

Appearance[]

Kiyoshi has short red hair and light blue eyes. Kiyoshi's face is filled with piercings, two above his left eyebrow, one on his right eyebrow and two on his left ear.

Kiyoshi also has crest xr-cism tattoos all over his body, from his back to his throat. His back in particular is tattooed with triple 7's in Roman numerals, though he intended on it to be three 6's for the devil's number.[1] The front of his body is tattooed with a cross.

He has two cross tattoos on his arms, with each one having a different symbol in the center (Left: Sun, Right: Moon).

Personality[]

Kiyoshi is extremely shy and has a fear of demons in spite of his strength. He desires to protect people from demons as an exorcist, but it is sometimes misplaced when he tried to protect a demon from being exorcised. He also desires to make friends, but his demeanor makes him rather unapproachable.

Kiyoshi carries around a small spiral-bound notebook listing the top 100 things he wants to achieve in high school, showcasing his desire to grow while in high school.[2]

Background[]

Prior to the start of the story, Kiyoshi's parents were killed by a demon [3] named Rushihara. Since then, Kiyoshi underwent intense training under his grandmother, eventually mastering overwhelming powers.[4][5]

He later became an exorcist and was the valedictorian and the youngest to ever graduate from the Exorcist Academy.[6]

Naraku Branch[]

  • Tenma Sakaki: Prior to the start of the story, Tenma Sakaki saved Kiyoshi when Kiyoshi was a young boy. As repayment, Kiyoshi works under Tenma as a chef and exorcist at the Gates of Hell Chinese restaurant. Tenma has also protected Kiyoshi before Hijiri could further hurt Kiyoshi. He has served as a mentor for Kiyoshi.

  • Sosuke Hitsugi: Sosuke thinks of Kiyoshi as a nuisance, especially since Kiyoshi was found to be much stronger than Sosuke himself. After Sata's defeat, Sosuke saw Kiyoshi as his rival to surpass. However, he cares enough about Kiyoshi to provide some assistance in healing Jack Joe. In contrast, Kiyoshi thinks of Sosuke as a friend.

Abilities[]

Despite only being ranked as a Grand Cross exorcist, Kiyoshi is known as "The Ultimate Exorcist".[7][8] Tenma Sakaki stated that he is already as strong as a Cross Paladin.[9] His Crest Xr-Cism techniques are based on the sun and moon, Little Miss Sunshine on his right arm & Moonrise Kingdom on his left arm.

Enhanced Strength: As seen in his fight against the Demon Lord Meto, Kiyoshi was able to stop his Triple Black Ball with his bare hand.

Enhanced Speed: Kiyoshi was able to outspeed the Demon Lord Sata.

Moonrise Kingdom[]

Moonrise Kingdom - Moonrise Kingdom is one of Kiyoshi's two Crest Xr-Cism abilities.
Artemis is a beam which Kiyoshi can use by loading up his arm and shooting it with his finger.
Hades Hades (Japanese: 月掌 Hades): Hades is a long-ranged attack which when used, Kiyoshi can make a certain part of his opponent's body explode, as seen in his fight against Meto. Kiyoshi can use multiple versions of Hades tho like for example Hades Lightning which is a more ranged attack or Hades Meteor which seems to be a more loaded up version of Hades and with which Kiyoshi has to directly touch the target. Poseidon Kiyoshi can summon multiple Tridents and shoot them like beams. The highest amount of Tridents Kiyoshi has summoned at once is three.
Hecatoncheires Hecatoncheires is a powerful loaded up punch attack.

Little Miss Sunshine[]

Little Miss Sunshine - Little Miss Sunshine is one of Kiyoshi's two Crest Xr-Cism abilities.
Athena Little Miss Sunshine Athena (Japanese: 太陽の守護神 太陽盾 Little Miss Sunshine Athena): Little Miss Sunshine. Athena is a shield-like ability.
Apollo: Kiyoshi can trap an opponent by using Little Miss Sunshine Apollo.
Icarus: Kiyoshi can summon multiple bouncy fields to either move across the sky fast or to boost enemies away.
Lux Gladius (太陽と月の悪祓十字剣): Lux Gladius is a sword which Kiyoshi can create to fight against his opponents.
Pandora: With Pandora Kiyoshi can shrink down attacks from enimies to minimize their attacks power. [11] Ultra-Pandora seems to be a more powerful version of it..
