Tenma Sakaki (Japanese: 熾木天馬(さかきてんま) Sakaki Tenma) is a major character of the manga series Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi. He is the founder and owner of the Gates of Hell Chinese restaurant. He is also a former Cross Paladin.[3]

Appearance[]

Tenma is a tall man with long blond hair that he keeps tied in a ponytail, orange colored eyes and a round piercing under his bottom lip. He also has a dice-shaped tattoo on both his right forearm and and left bicep. He is usually seen smoking a cigarette.[4]

Personality[]

Tenma is a friendly and laid-back person. He takes his job as a Exorcist seriously, and cares about his co-workers.

Five years prior to the start of the series, Tenma founded the Gates of Hell Chinese restaurant due to his love for Chinese cuisine.[5]

Abilities[]

As a former Cross Paladin,[8] Tenma is an extremely powerful Exorcist and he is someone that even Cross Paladins tip their heads to.[9] Ten years ago during his Grand Cross Assessment Test, he was capable of surviving an encounter with Memmy, The Ferocious Beast of Memento Forest.[10]

Enhanced Strength: Tenma has incredible physical strength; he was capable of sending his former pupil, Yuda, flying a great distance with a single kick,[11] and the force behind his punches are strong enough to visibly injure the latter.[12]

Enhanced Speed: Tenma is extremely fast; he was able to instantly appear next to Yuda without the latter noticing until he was actually next to him.[13]

Enhanced Durability: Tenma is an incredibly resilient man; he received only minor injuries from multiple devil-enhanced attacks from Yuda.[14]

Demon Familiar Abilities
Sasaki Demon Summon Demon Summoning: Tenma can summon a powerful demon called Hi-Stakes to fight with from his shadow. The demon refers to him as "Master Sakaki".[15]
Sting

Sting: Hi-Stakes transforms into a bucket that he uses to roll his dice in. Depending on the number that he rolls, Hi-Stakes will transform into a certain weapon for Tenma to use in battle.[16]

Five-Point Guardian Umbrella

Five-Point Guardian Umbrella: Hi-Stakes transforms into an umbrella that he uses to defend against enemy attacks.[17] He can also fire a powerful energy beam from the tip of the umbrella.[18]

4-5-6 Instant Win Death-Slayer Blade

4-5-6 Instant Win Death-Slayer Blade: Hi-Stakes transforms into a sword that he uses to deliver devastating slash attacks.[19]

Etymology[]

  • Tenma contains the kanji (天馬) which means "pegasus".
  • Saka contains the kanji (熾) which means "burning embers".
  • Ki contains the kanji (木) which means "tree" or "wood".
